Sura Mare It was conceived as a Romanesque basilica with three naves and six bays. The church has a square choir completed in the east by a semicircular apse transformed through the addition of buttresses and a defensive level during the Gothic period.

The last level was widened, supported by brick corbels and buttresses. From the original Romanesque basilica, the pillars, the arches between the naves, and the small apse of the side-aisles have been preserved.

The vaults date from the Gothic period. The bell tower has Early-Gothic details. Above the southern entrance, a defensive tower was erected.
